Advancing science through research, regulation and education, the Cruelty Free International Trust is a charity which supports the work of scientists and innovators to drive the transition towards a future of research and testing without the use of animals.
Millions of animals are used in scientific procedures worldwide each year. Many species of animals, including dogs, rabbits, rats, mice and monkeys, are used in tests for a range of purposes from those associated with everyday consumer products to drugs and treatments for diseases and curiosity driven research.
Although historically animals have been used for research and testing, change is coming. Modern progressive methods are replacing the harmful use of animals as scientists develop new human relevant methods and regulators, companies and governments worldwide build a compassionate future.
Embracing the potential of non-animal research, the Cruelty Free International Trust provides grants and resources to support leading scientific and educational initiatives – all united by a clear mission to ensure that science and compassion work hand in hand.
We currently support projects across three core areas:
- Supporting scientific progress with funding and resources to drive methods that replace the use of animals in research and testing.
- Driving change and compliance in regulatory and industry practice through partnership and support to ensure the adoption of innovative non-animal research methods.
- Educating and raising awareness of the ethical and scientific arguments around animal testing to ensure an informed debate about the need for animal-free science.
Our support funds a range of groundbreaking projects enabling scientists, regulators, companies and governments to create a positive future without the use of animals. Please note that applications for funding are by invitation only.
